How I Rate Books: A Brief Guide

I don't lose a lot of sleep over how I rate books, because I don't get enough sleep as it is. I rate books only for my own reference because chances are I won't remember most books within a year or so (see previous sentence, no sleep around here). I don't worry about how other people will feel about my ratings; I'm no literary critic, I just like what I like. But, in case all five of my readers are interested in my criteria, I thought I would share it for reference.

★                  This book is the worst and you should feel ashamed that you wasted valuable time reading it.
★★              Overall this book was terrible, but it had some redeeming qualities.
★★★          You liked this book, but you probably wouldn't read it again.
★★★★      You really enjoyed this book and would most likely read it again.
★★★★★  This book was amazing and you definitely should read it again.

  1. I think it's a great rating system. So great, in fact, that I'm stealing it! Moohaha! :D
